General Millwork Questions
What is commercial millwork?
Commercial millwork is custom-built woodwork made for businesses. It covers cabinets, countertops, reception desks, wall panelling, trim, and shelving. Unlike residential cabinetry, commercial millwork is built to handle heavier use, meet building codes, and match the look your business needs.
Broadway Millwork manufactures and installs commercial millwork for healthcare facilities, offices, restaurants, retail stores, and schools across Saskatchewan.
What is the difference between commercial and residential cabinets?
Commercial cabinets handle more wear and tear than residential cabinets. They use thicker materials, stronger hardware, and more durable finishes. They also need to meet building codes and industry standards that residential cabinets do not.
For example, medical office cabinets need easy-clean, sterilization-friendly surfaces. Restaurant cabinets need food-safe materials. The construction methods are different because the demands are different. Our commercial cabinets page breaks this down in more detail.
What industries do you serve?
Broadway Millwork serves five main industries in Saskatchewan:
- Healthcare and medical , including clinics, dental offices, and hospitals
- Retail stores , including display cabinets and store fixtures
- Restaurants and hospitality , including commercial kitchen cabinets and bar stations
- Corporate offices , including executive offices, conference rooms, and breakrooms
- Education , including classrooms, labs, and libraries
Each industry has different material and compliance needs, and we build to match those requirements.
Material & Finish Questions
What materials do you use for commercial cabinets?
We use commercial-grade plywood, MDF, melamine, solid wood, and laminates. The right material depends on where the cabinets will be used.
Healthcare projects often require moisture-resistant, easy-clean surfaces. Restaurant projects need food-safe, heat-resistant materials. Office projects typically use high-pressure laminates or wood veneer for a professional finish. We walk you through the options during design so you can pick what fits your budget and use case. Our cabinet materials guide covers each material in detail.
What is the difference between laminate, solid surface, and quartz countertops?
Laminate is the most budget-friendly option. It comes in hundreds of colours and patterns, resists stains well, and works for most office and retail spaces.
Solid surface (brands like Corian) is seamless and repairable. It is a good fit for healthcare settings because there are no joints where bacteria can collect.
Quartz is the most durable and heat-resistant. It is a strong choice for restaurants and high-traffic areas. It costs more upfront, but it holds up for years with minimal maintenance.
Our countertop materials comparison page has a full breakdown of cost, durability, and best uses for each material.
Can you match our brand colours and design style?
Yes. Custom millwork is built to your specifications, so we match colours, materials, and finishes to your brand. This is especially common for custom reception desks, retail displays, and restaurant interiors where the millwork is visible to customers.
We work from your brand guidelines, or we can help you choose finishes that fit your space. Our cabinet finishes guide covers paint, stain, and laminate options.
Do you offer sustainable or eco-friendly millwork options?
Yes. We offer FSC-certified wood, low-VOC finishes, and other materials that support green building standards. If your project has LEED or environmental certification requirements, we can source materials that meet those specs.
Our sustainable millwork page has more on what we offer and how we source responsibly. Talk to us during design about what matters to your project.

Process & Timeline Questions
How long does a commercial millwork project take?
Most projects take between 4 and 12 weeks from design approval to installation. Smaller projects like a single reception desk or breakroom cabinet set can be done in 4 to 6 weeks. Larger fit-outs for medical clinics, restaurants, or retail stores usually take 8 to 12 weeks.
Timelines depend on the scope of work, material availability, and whether the site is ready for install. We give you a detailed schedule after the design consultation. Our process page walks through each step from consultation to final install.
What is CNC manufacturing and why does it matter?
CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. A computer controls the cutting, drilling, and shaping of materials, which gives you precise, repeatable cuts every time.
For commercial cabinets, this means tighter joints, consistent quality across large orders, and faster production. Broadway Millwork uses CNC equipment in our Saskatoon facility to manufacture all cabinet and millwork components.
Do you handle installation or just manufacturing?
We do both. Broadway Millwork manufactures everything in our Saskatoon shop and installs it on-site with our own crew. One company handles the whole project from start to finish.
If something needs adjusting during install, our team handles it on the spot because they know how the pieces were built. Learn more about our cabinet installation services.
Can you work from architectural drawings and specifications?
Absolutely. We work directly with architects, designers, and general contractors on commercial projects. If you have architectural drawings, shop drawings, or material specs, send them over and we will quote from those documents.
If you do not have drawings yet, our team can help with the design process from scratch.
Pricing & Quote Questions
How much does commercial millwork cost?
Pricing depends on the size of the project, the materials you choose, and the complexity of the design. A small office breakroom cabinet set will cost less than a full restaurant fit-out with custom bar stations and commercial kitchen cabinets.
We provide detailed quotes after the design consultation so there are no surprises. Contact us at (306) 975-2020 or through our website to get a free estimate.
How do I get a quote for my project?
You can request a free quote through our website, call us at (306) 975-2020, or email info@broadwaymc.ca. We will ask about your project scope, timeline, and any drawings or specs you have.
From there, we schedule a site visit or design consultation and put together a detailed quote. There is no cost or obligation for the initial consultation.
Do you provide a warranty on your work?
Yes. Broadway Millwork provides a warranty on both our manufacturing and installation work. The specifics depend on the project scope and materials used. We go over warranty details in your project agreement before any work begins.
