Building Saskatchewan Businesses
Wondering what it’s actually like to work with a commercial millwork company?
We get it. You’ve probably never ordered custom cabinets before. You’re not sure what to expect. You don’t know how long it takes or what information you need to provide.
That’s completely normal.
At Broadway Millwork, we’ve guided hundreds of Saskatchewan businesses through this exact process. We’ve learned what works, what doesn’t, and how to make the whole experience as smooth as possible.
This page walks you through our complete process, from your first phone call to the day we install your last cabinet.
No surprises. No confusion. Just a clear roadmap of what happens next.
Step 1: Free Consultation and Site Visit
Step 2: Design and Material Selection
Step 3: Precision Manufacturing
Step 4: Professional Installation

Step 1: Free Consultation & Site Visit
Every project starts with a conversation.
You tell us what you need. We ask questions to understand your business, your space, and your goals.
Here’s what happens during your free consultation:
We listen first. What’s working in your current space? What’s driving you crazy? What does your ideal solution look like?
We ask about your timeline. When do you need this completed? Are you working around a lease start date, a grand opening, or a slow season?
We discuss your budget. We can’t give you a quote yet, but we can tell you if your budget is realistic for what you’re planning.
We schedule a site visit. We need to see your actual space. Photos help, but there’s no replacement for measuring in person.
During the site visit, we:
- Take detailed measurements of your space
- Look for potential challenges (electrical outlets, plumbing, uneven floors, load-bearing walls)
- Take photos for reference
- Discuss layout options that might work better than what you originally imagined
- Answer your questions on the spot
Timeline for Step 1: Initial phone call takes 15-30 minutes. Site visit usually takes 1-2 hours depending on project size.
What we need from you:
- Clear idea of what you’re trying to accomplish
- Access to the space during business hours
- Any floor plans or architectural drawings if you have them (not required)
Step 2: Design & Material Selection
After we visit your site, we get to work designing your solution.
This is where your project goes from a rough idea to a detailed plan.
Here’s what happens:
We create CAD drawings. Our team uses computer-aided design software to create precise layouts showing exactly how your cabinets, countertops, or millwork will look and fit in your space.
We select materials based on your needs. Different businesses need different materials. A medical clinic needs easy-to-clean surfaces. A restaurant needs food-safe materials. An office needs professional finishes. We recommend what makes sense for your specific industry and budget.
We choose finishes and colours. We’ll show you samples of different finishes, colours, and hardware options. You pick what matches your brand and style.
We present everything in a proposal. You’ll receive a detailed proposal that includes:
- CAD drawings showing your layout
- Material specifications (exactly what we’re building with)
- Finish and colour selections
- Detailed pricing breakdown
- Estimated timeline from approval to installation
- Payment terms
We meet to review the proposal together. This is your chance to ask questions, request changes, or adjust anything that’s not quite right.
Most customers need 1-2 rounds of revisions. That’s normal. We’d rather get it perfect now than build something you’re not happy with.
Timeline for Step 2: 1-2 weeks for initial design and proposal. Revisions typically take 2-3 days each.
What we need from you:
- Feedback on the design (be honest, we can handle it)
- Material and finish selections
- Approval to move forward
- Deposit payment (typically 50% to order materials)

Step 3: Precision Manufacturing
Once you approve the design, we order materials and start building.
This is where our 30 years of experience and CNC technology really shine.
Here’s what happens in our shop:
Materials arrive. We order from trusted Canadian suppliers. Commercial-grade plywood, MDF, laminates, solid surface materials, whatever your project requires.
Our CNC equipment does the precision work. Computer-controlled machines cut every piece to exact specifications. No measuring errors. No “that’s close enough.” Every cut is perfect.
Our team handles assembly. Skilled craftspeople assemble cabinet boxes, attach hardware, and prepare everything for finishing.
We apply finishes. Paint, stain, or laminate gets applied in our controlled shop environment. This ensures better results than finishing on-site where dust, temperature, and humidity can cause problems.
Quality control happens throughout. We check measurements, joints, finishes, and hardware at multiple stages. If something’s not right, we fix it before it leaves our shop.
We stage everything for installation. All components get organized, labelled, and prepared for efficient installation at your location.
Timeline for Step 3: 4-8 weeks depending on project size and complexity. We’ll give you a specific timeline in your proposal.
What we need from you:
- Nothing. This is all happening in our shop. We’ll send you progress updates and photos along the way.
Step 4: Professional Installation
Installation day is when everything comes together.
Our installation crew treats your business location with respect and works efficiently to minimize disruption.
Here’s what happens:
We confirm the installation date. Usually 1-2 weeks before installation, we’ll confirm the exact date and arrival time. We show up when we say we will.
We protect your space. Floor protection goes down. We contain dust. We’re careful around your existing furniture and equipment.
We bring everything we need. All tools, hardware, and materials arrive with our crew. We won’t be asking to borrow your ladder or running to the hardware store.
Installation happens in stages:
- Base cabinets go in first and get levelled perfectly
- Upper cabinets get installed and secured properly
- Countertops get templated and installed (if applicable)
- Hardware gets attached (handles, hinges, drawer slides)
- Final adjustments ensure everything opens smoothly and sits level
- We clean up completely
We do a walkthrough with you. Once installation is complete, we walk through everything together. We show you how hardware works, explain maintenance, and answer any questions.
We don’t leave until you’re happy. If something needs adjustment, we fix it on the spot.
Timeline for Step 4: 1-5 days depending on project size. Small projects (single reception desk) might take just one day. Large projects (complete office renovation) might take a week.
What we need from you:
- Clear access to the installation area
- Any required permits or building approvals (we’ll tell you if needed)
- Someone available for the final walkthrough
- Final payment upon completion

What Makes Our Process Different
After 30 years and hundreds of projects, we’ve learned what actually matters to Saskatchewan business owners.
Here’s what sets our process apart:
Clear communication at every step. You’ll never wonder what’s happening with your project. We send updates, return calls promptly, and keep you informed.
Accurate timelines. When we give you a timeline, we stick to it. We build buffer time into our schedule so delays don’t become your problem.
No surprises. The price we quote is the price you pay. If we discover something unexpected that will affect the cost, we discuss it with you before proceeding.
One point of contact. You work with one project manager from start to finish. They know your project inside and out.
We handle the details. Permits, site coordination, material ordering, quality control. You shouldn’t have to think about these things.
Professional installation. Our installers are employees, not subcontractors. They represent our company and our reputation.
